WSB bite, late eve report - Kayak Fishing Adventures on Big Water’s Edge

Hit LJ after the MLPA, already had the yak on the truck...

Went tight to the kelp, finally, finally got my

!

Didn't bring my spectra rig, was just gonna look for bait poppin' or see if I can see some breezers. Bait was easy to make, just find them poppin'...was trolling one near the kelp line, nice mac nose hooked.

Saw some bait jumping and looking real nervous, thought I found some YT...paddled over, bait gets nervous, big mac starts getting the clicker to click a bit, then BAM...starts singing big time. Set the hook, the fight is on!

Dives down deep, a bit towards the kelp, but not running like a YT. At Saturday's tourney I hooked a leopard and was hoping it wasn't another. He's pulling out a bit of line, and trying to reach the kelp. Finally slows, and I gain some line back. Started to reach for the gaff but didn't want to jinx myself. I gain some line, then down he goes again...this went on for about 15 minutes, finally starts to come up a bit, then start gaining more line..get him to the boat, looks exhausted, but a nice battle regardless...well worth the effort, well worth the drive...
