Tidelands 4/8

The fishing started a little late with a couple of rookie mistakes, but here it goes. Got of off duty and headed home to get the yak ready and take a last minute trip to oex for some more gear. Got on the water at about 1045 at tidelands. There were only two or three boats out there so I thought it was gonna be slow but hey at least we weren't at work!! Headed out to my favorite spot and Bryce gets a nasty lizard fish, I thought here we go again with these damned lizards. I set up for my second drift, had a pen spinning reel set up with 12lb test and a drop shot with 2 oz weight. Not a minute after I put that rod down to cast and retrieve with another rod, when I saw the rod starting to bend. I picked it up and gave the fish a little more opportunity to fully take the bait when I felt it take pretty hard and I set the hook. The fight wasn't all that great but at the end I came out the winner. 28" halibut, first legal from a yak!!
