Shark Free Marina Initiative

Shark Free Marina Initiative (SFMI).

Here we go again. Whenever there's a problem with a fishery, the recreational angler is the easiest target.

While I believe most anglers support protections for sharks and elimination of commercial "finning" practices, I think this initiative is just another bully tactic directed at recreational fishermen.

You are right, we are the easiest target. We don't band together like the commercials, and don't have the funding that the trawlers, commercials, etc. have.

So we are the target because the groups that wish to establish what they think and want, won't go after the bigger groups since they know they'll have a fight on their hands financially and will have a much bigger battle against groups that band together.

I think if these people were really so concerned at helping our fisheries instead of achieving their ego-driven goals, they would go after the trawlers and commercials who do far more damage than kayakers, PB'ers, spearos, or surf fishers could ever do.

Instead they are choosing the path of least resistance...or so they think.

I don't think I could, or would ever tow a shark like that into my port.

The enviro come across as obsessive.
-Just ask some of the SAT team whom they insulted by accusing them of Not doing enough at the 6/17 Meeting in La.
