San Diego Bay 3-16

San Diego Bay 3-16
Took the Pro Angler to Tidelands monday. Beautiful day, I arrived just after high tide. I fished from 10:30 am to 2 pm. My ff was seeing fish but no one biting. The wind came up about 11 am and I started the round robbin drift. As I was drifting through the bridge supports I saw a fish cruising up current at about 10 ft. I'm thinking, I sure hope I have my xmas tree swim bait at the proper depth so it smacks him in the face. All of a sudden, wham, fish on. I start reeling him in, and there he is a 15-17 inch halibut. My very first halibut, thank you, felt very good. Poor guy, he flopped all over the place till I figured out how to release him. Grabbed the plastic lip gripper, no fingers in the mouth, and took the hook out of his upper lip.

Thanks to all who contribute their personal experience that helps me every day that I fish.

Way to go! Halibut love bridges. Keep feeding the addiction.

Sight fishing for halibut, don't get to do that too often. Very cool
