Oxnard/Ventura kayak Fishing? Is it any good?

What's up, this is my first post, does anybody know of Oxnard and Ventura have any decent kayak fishing spots other than the local breakwalls? There isn't much structure off the beaches unless you go towards rincon on the 101. Lemme Know thanks.

The kelp beds off Malibu are good fun, but getting to the water can be a chore alone sometimes. I may be hitting Leo Carrillo this Saturday. Looks like the surf will be about 1ft so not bad. Deer Creek is another spot but I have not fished it myself yet. It has a steep staircase and my kayak weighs 90 lbs empty.

There's no fish in that water. I'd just stick to La Jolla.....

I just moved to Oxnard from the bay area and I'm wondering the same thing. Have you tried to venture out yet?

I’ve fished the Channel Islands breakwall for a few years now and it’s not very good. Mostly just small browns and grass bass. I tried the Ventura harbor breakwall and it was pretty much the same, just more flies. I would suggest going a few hours north or south to really get into some good fish. I posted this thread wondering if anyone else has had any luck but it all seems to be the same

The kelp beds are your best bet, but the surf has to be low enough to launch. Leo is fine to launch from if the surf is 2ft or less. Watch the surf report. No real good fishing like in the south or north, stuck in a spot in the middle.
