I'm planning to go out with a couple buddies around 6am. Wind prediction is about 9mph. Is that gonna be an issue for beginners?

That's not too bad especially if they're in Hobies. Just don't go too far and pay really close attention to the conditions. The wind is really supposed get up to the 20s by early afternoon. Definitely get back well before that starts.

I'm sure rockfish. Not saying you can't get yellows, but the chances are slim. I'll see you guys at 6am. I say 11am-11:30am to head in at latest. That wind always tends to blow you straight out of the harbor, so even within the jetties you're not safe until you're way inside the harbor.

Yeah, I haven't had any luck with yellows so far this season out of Newport. I had some luck with the rockfish on Monday. You guys heading out from the coast guard station or the hand-held boat launch on the other side?
