DP Butts - Kayak Fishing Adventures on Big Water’s Edge

Hey Gang, I'm getting back into yak fishing, been out of the game for a few years.I just picked up a used revo, switched to the other side finally. I fished for a few hours with live chovies and ended up with 3 butts, 2 keepers, 3 yfc and a few sand bass. I also played in the surf to see how the revo handeld and ended up braking the blades off of my hobie paddle both sides, just by digging into wave to prevent a roll, weird... Has anyone experienced this? I will be hitting up LJ and San O next week looking for bigger game.

Butt on the right looks like its tail got chewed up by the net. Hope the released one didn't suffer the same fate.

Please...if you are going to catch and release butts... Don't put them in that fin splitting net!

I did not net the fish bye the way.so the released one was ok.

My son and I wanted to try a surf launch and landing. We decided on Torrance Beach. There was no one there when we launched in the morning, but when we decide to come in, the beach was crowded. People and surfers everywhere. Lesson learned. We tied everything down including the drive. When I dug in to line up on my target, the blade snapped. My son came in first, so he could help me gather whatever we could find after the inevitable crash. Then I had to paddle in canoe style. I paddled my butt off trying to stay ahead of the wave, and managed to stay in the pocket. When the wave crashed I turned sideways, braced against the wave and slide into home. Thank you Jim Sammons for the tecnique. Lucky, lucky, lucky. I replaced the Hobie paddle with a Bending Branches paddle from Sports Chalet. Not the best paddle, but it feels much more solid and will be there for me when I really need it. Still have to replace the other one.

I broke my Hobie paddle a couple months ago. I was just paddling in water and it broke where the blade meets the pole. From what I have read they are POS.
