lake Cuyamaca on Wednesday?

I was thinking of a change and head up to Lake Cuyamaca on wed. I grew up as a kid in Pine Valley and feel like reliving my fishing youth. I plan to get up there around 6am and go from there. They have a small charge for fishing the lake and washing the yak prior to entry. Trout, bass, crappie, catfish and sturgeon are there, some better then others. The wind looks calm right now so if it stays that way I (we) should have the lake to us. If your down let me know.

Good old cuyamaca. Been there my share of times. This is supposed to be a better year as they are stocking trophy fish this year as well as last. Trolling I'm assuming??

They have been stoking it, I went a few weeks ago and got 2 trout. I bet its even better now. I got them on night crawlers by the pier and dam area. Its a fun lake, grab some pie on the way home!

When u are there, pick pump house cove apart. That's where the oxygen is pumped and the trout are there. I've baited and waited for the stockers, but the larger models are always on the artificial a. At least for me. If trout don't work out, take a 1/8 to 1/16 mini jig under a bobber, bout 1-3ft (gotta play with the length to find them) and hit the boat dock where the rentals are. Crappie galore with the occasional trout and bass.

I would recommend holding off until Thursday or Friday if you can. Stock of fresh ones on the 24th!

I never had a bad day at Cuyamaca from the shore or on a kayak. I'd go for it on any day, best of luck to ya.

Went today. Launched around 6:30 off the lake at 2:30. Trolled the lake several times for nada. Did catch one around 1.5# or a little better at pump house cove. Lots of fishermen but didn't see large numbers caught. Seemed slow everywhere on the lake. Ended up giving mine to another fisherman with a couple of kids who had two. Figured now he would have enough for dinner.Side note. Took my bait tank and put the trout in it instead of a stringer or fish basket. After 3.5 hours in the tank, it was still full of life and fighting to get out.

Have allways wanted to fish that lake, and trout plus bait tank works well, I have done it but the ideal trout would not fit in the tank if you ever got one
