4-15 Cabrillo with a Legend, an Elite and a Champ

I hit Cabrillo on Sunday knowing that a few others would be there too via a few texts the day before. I ended up in the midst of quite the crew: Jorge (Legend in the Making), Matt (Stinky yet Elite), and Greg (WCW Champ)...We were joined a few hours later by Brent (Mountain biker on a kayak).

I, Caffeind, in my excitement to hit the water, had no coffee this day, so was extraordinarily silent in my stalking of the flat ones. This turned out to be a good thing as it let me enjoy the almost constant banter of Team Sewer as they dodged whales, dickheads in boats, kite flying homeless guys and apparently blood thirsty raccoons (after I left).

Somehow me and my Olive Outback (Official Kayak of Cabrillo Halibut Fisherman TM) managed to steer clear of all the wackiness out there...just one bite for one fish.

Ended up being a PB for me. OTW pic provided by Matt

20lbs.- 38"...too bad we didn't have a $5 big fish bet goin

20lbs......the text you sent me says 19.9lbs. Did you re-weigh it using Roby's scale?

Matt did some catch and release? I don't think so.

I'll have to admit that Sunday was the worst fishing day for me at Cabrillo. Bait was well cured, sun was shining, water was moving, there was plenty and I mean plenty of sea life but all I managed to get was two sandies that were large enough to win a bass tournament.

Thanks again for coming out and congrats on the PB........lets do it again Thursday.

Thanks...actually those guys had me rollin', maybe it was the lack of coffee tho. I'll see if they're funny after a venti next time.

that was a fun day OTW, as most are even when it is slow, although it was a bit lack luster due to the fact that Matt forgot to charge his radio, so we missed out on the usual constant back round comedic chatter...

some other interesting happenings that day, Matt...didn't your mom tell you not to play on the freeway? and I wish I had a picture but, a loaded China Shipping Company cargo ship came through, I look over and there is Matt, in what appeared ,from where I was, very very close to being run over by about six football fields of imported truck trailers, and no way to radio him to say "heads up", a little unnerving, I was on the opposite side of the harbor so I can't tell exactly how close, but if you have ever been near a big ship in a little kayak, they all look close...
Anyway it was great seein everybody as usual and just having fun...

We were very safe, well outside of the shipping lane markers. Maybe the angle or the size of the ship made it look closer.

I need a spare radio, just to make sure I can entertain all day long!

A box of cigars will work too....for celebrating and for smoke signals when your radio dies.

Nice halibut you got there and a personal best as well...congrats.

Your title really needs a change though. It should read "4-15 Cabrillo with a Kite Flyer, Radio Chatterer and a Champ."
