Great ride to the kelp forest...lots of fish too!

This is a kayak fishing report from Solana Beach on 7/2/2017.

It was nice to see some significant kelp out there. The forest made for great fishing! Conditions for most of the trip were breezy and choppy. Clouds eventually gave way to sunny clear skies. I simply anchored to the kelp in a few areas and fished what was around me. I didn't count but easily caught over 30 fish.

The launch was easy by Del Mar standards with just some 2-footers to contend with.

Sand Bass - At least five of these made their way to my yak.

Calico Bass - I caught over 20 of these.

WSB - D'oh, always too small!

Sheephead - I caught four of these

Easy ride home in relatively small surf.

Enjoy.
