5/25 SD Bay mixed bag plus flattie steak for dinner!

Been at least a month since I fished off the yak, which is WAY too long in my book so.........called wingman #1 (Sherm) and met up at SI at 0600 for what turned out to be a decent morning of angling.

Target today was the flat kind, (needless to say mission accomplished ). Launched into a low tide and flat conditions at around 0630 and waved at my son Nick (Ichi) as he passed by on the Malihini to deck yet another day. Headed straight to the secret halibut spot and set up on several looooong drifts. Spotties were on the chew BIG time, so were a few nice model sandies.

Decided to move into deeper water and dropped down a jerk shad on a dropper loop. Halfway into that drift I watched as my rod dipped like i was snagged on the bottom. Started taking drag so I know it weren't no eel grass . Felt the head shakes on the way up and had the net ready. Yup, a nice 25" flattie was in the yak and on the stringer just like that .

Fished for about another hour or so and caught more sandies, spotties, a rattler, and a pop tart flattie. Called it a morning at 1100.

Counts for me were: 2 halibut (1 keeper), 8 spotted bay bass, 5 sand bass, 1 sculpin, couple greenbacks. All feesh C&R'ed except the legal flattie (just served him up for dinner for the family). All fish caught using chart leadhead and clear speck. green scampi smother in UNI Butter and misc. GULP! baits including chart. swimming mullet, lime tiger shrimp, and nuclear chicken jerk shad.

Scott was the spottie king today with about 18 I think. Good fishing with ya as usual bro .

Peace,

Spyder

Good fishing with you as always bro. Glad you made it after being sick. I knew you would rub some dirt on it and be there for fishing. A month is way too long to be off the water.

My day was a good day of fishing. Just not the right kind like you caught. I was in shallower water and casting into the depths looking for Mr. Flattie. Twice I had the dropper loop go big time bendo in about 35 feet of water. Both times, by the time I put one rod down and grabbed the other, the fish was gone. Some of the problems fishing two rods at the same time

Oh ya bro......how did you forget the chicks in bikinis paddling by us on those paddle boards while fishing? Three times I had you turnaround just in time to see some chicks in bikinis on their knees paddling away from us. A very nice sight indeed.

I was killing the spotties. I found spotties from 10 feet to 40 feet of water. They were all over the place. All hale the spottie king

Overall a good day of fishing with a good mixed bag of fish and time on the water with the wingman.

FISH COUNT:

18 Spotties
4 Turdrollers
2 macs
1 Flattie
1 lizard fish

All C&R
