DP 7/27

Launched late at 1:00 off at 8:00

Water has cooled down from a few weeks ago to around 64°, nice and overcast all day.

Fished bait barge anchovies all day. One short hali and a short cuda within the first 15 mins on the water.

Finally got my bait tank dialed in, only lost 3 or 4 chovies all day.

I got skunked outside the harbor so headed back in after 2 hours. Lots of short strikes/raked baits.

I was suprised to get no bass at all, inside or outside the harbor.. maybe too cold?

Ended up with 3 short halibut, 1 short baracuda, 1 queenfish, and 1 legal halibut at 24"... my first legal on a kayak

Cooking up some halibut right now

Great job on getting your first legal yak butt. Big drops in water temp will definitely shut down a bass bite. Especially considering DP has been slow for bass most of the year (at least for me).

I was wearing a straw hat drifting around on a dark green Malibu Stealth 12. Not too much wind and current made for a nice slow drift all day.
