Dana Report

The water is 68 and the birds are out. Using one of them war bait thing a ma jiggies very well may get bit by a hungry but confused calico. What is it about the plastics that get those fish to attack so ferociously

Anyhow a buddy of mine borrowing my kayak and my swim-bait hooked up on this guy. sorry the pic is crap, but this is the biggest calico I've seen with my own eyes. This was photo'd and Released.

I did catch more fish than by free-loading kayak mooching buddy. IT was a lot of fun. More evidence that the headlands is over-rated (at least in my book).

I love a great Calico story, and yeah, the picture could have been better, but remember the fight....

With calico's it's all about the reactionary bite.I used the weedless warbait's / red flake and killed it at San Clemente. It was amazing to see them swim up and explode on those plastic's in the last 3-4 feet.I'am going to start closing my barb's on my hook's when I release my fish to make it easier to release the fish and cause less harm.

Big Mama calico! Must have been a great fight. Thanks for the report. PS Will it help me catch monster calico's if I wear lipstick too?
