Ouch...

Well, you at least won in the end. Impressive, that must have been one hell of a fight. I hope they didn't steal the other 2.

Try letting it run back to the bottom, dogs don't have gills. Sorry about the fish.

That sucks, we need a F'n Sealions smilie! Did anyone else notice the half bitten sealion carcus yesterday? It had huge bite marks, and only the back half left...

No, this is not to stir up the Jaws debate, we all know the food chain follows the candy inshore... I noticed last year, or maybe the year before, I am getting senile, that there was multiple whitey sightings when the WSB came in...

keep your feet in your kayak!

Art told me to go check out the shark bit seal. I figured I was close enough.

Who was it that had the nerve to weigh in the partial YT in a previous WCW?

First day, I had no help from the mothership so I was on my own, 15 miles offshore. Second day, I used the boat as a deterant against homeguard seals. We used two methods, 1) If I was hooked up the boat would come by and distract the seals. 2) Would get fish to swim under boat , thus seals would follow then boat would stay on top of seal to prevent him from getting air and releasing fish (if seal had fish in mouth). Worked great.

Must of been...

Must of been a "small" shark to not be able to finish him off. I was lucky enough to see a full breach in La Jolla of a GWS in September of 01'(full Discovery channel style). It did a full rotation in the air and when it hit the water it looked like a car drove off a bridge. This took place in 110' off the northwest corner. Me and two friends had just put a nice Yellowtail in the skiff and heard an explosion a hundred yards away. There was a foam ball about 30' wide and we were all staring at a whimpering injured seal screaming, swimming around in tight circles for at least a minute, then it happened and kayak-fishing and night lobster diving changed forever. People who are in denial about large GWS in La Jolla year round are kidding themselves. I wish I could go back in time and turn my head so I could join the group of ignorant people.

That one looks like it died from a gunshot to the shoulder, rather than shark attack. Is that pic from mex?

I hope I can remain one of the ignorant. I'd love to see that, Josh, but not at LJ.

Why........

why would anyone shoot a "little dog". I'm not saying that any dog should be shot, but I can think of two "alpha-dogs" that steal fish every day and seem to have avoided the trigger-happy anglers their whole life. I've never had a problem with small dogs in La Jolla and avoid the "alpha-dogs" whenever possible. I also find this confusing during a "squid-bite", from my experience all dogs seem to be on good behavior during this time.(stuffed full of squid and sunning most of the day)
