SD Bay 5-20

Decided to sleep in til 7 this morning and catch the incoming tide in the bay that was pushing til 11. It worked out pretty well. Launched at SI and fishing by 8. Paddled west to just past SI pier and started the drift east. Once again the Gulp! New Penny was killing it on the drop shot. First hour had probly 10 fish up and sent back down. All sandies and spotties. Caught a couple short halibut right in a row then a steady pick on the bass again til 9:30-9:45. At about 10 caught a really nice 17" grump. Sent my swim bait back down and SLAM. Straight up and down and alot of weight knew he was the right kind. Get a good gaff shot and a minute later securely fastened to the kayak. Guess probly 8-10 lb Halibut. Decided to call it a day after that. Make a quick stop at OEX for some new handles for the kayak, and home by 11:30. Another nice day on the water....kinda windy later in the morning but still nice. Heres a couple pics of the fish's:

Evan,

Nice report and nice butt. It's
always fun to nab a legal!
Sounds like a fun fishing day.

I gonna give dana a try in the
morning. See if there's any
Hallie-Berry-Bottom-Butts
around.

I had a blast chasing those Yellow
tail boils the other day with you.

It was cool trying to anticapate
where the next boils would pop
up. I've got a new Iron Tossing
set-up; and I can't wait to give
it a try.
Yani
