Good opportunity to get everyone to think about how they would want to handle a dangerous fish that they may or may not want to harvest. A gaff can be handy like a Sabiki dehooker with J-hooks. Handy cutters for cutting the leader in case of circle hooks or non-mouth hooked fish. There are lots of different techniques that will be good for one person, but maybe not for the next. Either way, try to take care of it quickly for a better release or taste.

I had a pretty big pissed off leopard shark at the boat once. I had a friend cut my leader to deal with the release.
