The cherry popper...

Thanks for the props, Dom. It's always nice when clients show up eager to learn, already have a bad a$$ Ulua---and most importantly, can cast!

One thing's for sure, that's one Yellowtail you'll never forget. Any Yellowtail's a good yellowtail, but that's a nice one. Not only is she your first from the kayak, but catching your first Yellowtail on the surface-iron---well, that's a whole 'nother level!!!.

Forget about blind strikes while trolling until you're blue in the face; that my friend, is how it's done.

Forget about the explosion of pissed off fish, right off our bow. And forget about the gigantic, unstoppable Yellowtail, that smoked you into the rocks. These things happen when playing with The Right Kind. Quite simply, sometimes, they win. Which is one of many reasons why it's, well, so damn fun!

New boat, new rods, new pedals and a big a$$ fish---sounds like a new man to me!

Disclaimer: I had a local taxidermy make up ten or so, fake, Yellowtail replicas in the 30-40lb model size. If you happen to see a couple of guys over the next few months with one of these, very realistic, fake Homeguard models, on the back of their Hobie---don't get too excited. It's just a replica, after all---no need to sound the alarm!

There's no Yellowtail in La Jolla!
