I don't remember saying I could swim without a wetsuit, no weights or fins in 59 degree water for three minutes on one breath. I said a 3 minute breathhold, which was timed in perfectly calm warm water, after properly prepping my lungs. It should be obvious that jumping in ice water will more than cut your oxygen level in half, then kicking down with no fins or weights and spending precious energy will give you twenty seconds at best.
