Started early as the upcoming tide stated at 6:00 AM.
Water temp was 68.
First fish.

Cuda showed up too.

Last good fish

The rest where dinks, ended the day with 7 fish.

went NP today 10/21 water was calm , lot of small barracuda , decent bass biting

Hooked really big halibut ,had good fight , but my gaff was too small for it
As soon as I gaffed , it took off
I didn't expect that big halibut lives New Port harbor
I think around 30lb

Another kayaker took picture that moment you can compare the head and my gaff size

That was a nice one! Ya never know in NPH, some big fish have wandered in there on a few occasions. Halibuts are one of those fish that notoriously come alongside before they are played out. Similar to the Cobia in Florida, the battle goes beyond gaffing until the fish is either netted, clipped or dispatched. I feel your pain, I recently had this one flop out of the yak
