Someone mentioned to me that I had at least $150 worth of meat.

There is no way that my family and I can eat that whole fish before it go's bad, so I called a few friend's and parted with what I couldn't eat.
About $22 - 24 lb. for local Halibut filet. A good filet job will yield approximately 40% of clean filets. Halibut are easy to cut, just follow the lines across the fish.

If you toss the fish in a cooler overnight the meat will firm up and make it easier to cut, and you will get the most from meat from the fish.

-They freeze well, so don't worry about it going bad.
If you do not have a Vacuum Sealer you can use a 5 Gallon Bucket of Water to Remove All the Air from a ZipLock Freezer bag.

-Fill the 5 Gal. bucket 3/4 up with water.
-Place clean filet in a freezer bag and zip it closed 3/4 of the way.
-Place the bag into the bucket of water and begin to submerge - You will notice the air will be forced out and the bag tighten to the filet.
Last Step
-Simultaneously dunk the last bit of the bag while zipping closed the final 1/4 of the ZipLock Bag.

Instant Vacuum Packed Filet.

Sure did!! And I have been out there before and it never crossed my mind to enter. Just about 5 minutes before we left I was talking to this nice lady (regular) who talked me into buying a ticket.... So now, I'm 3rd on the list.
