I caught that same fish in the last photo at Harbor Island in SD. Someone told me it was a Midshipment fish. I googled it and it looked like my fish, that fish looks just like it too, so I'm not sure now. That's only the 2nd time I've ever seen that fish.

Great job on the lings with the family! Your pics and brought back some great memories. Never kayaked there, but a buddy and I used to launch his zodiac there for fishing and surfing many years ago. You ever have any issues with surf outside the jetty during big swells? There were a few times I was glad we had the speed of the zodiac to get us out and back in one piece.

Yes I can answer that now T rex cause I did have some problems with the swell a month ago when I got toppled by 15ft over head and lost a couple of full shimano set ups.
Great place to kill some fish

Its still not clear of where is this place!i wanna explore new areas.give us the name.I will be heading out tomorrow.maybe Dana point try to get me a halibut .
