My new Cobra XL Needs a Front Hatch or...

Hey guys... Here is my new Kayak... Just picked it up off Craigslist for 200$. I am going to be using it to fish some pretty rugged coast line here on the Central Coast... involves lowering the yak down a pretty steep cliff... and launching through a channel protected by a natural jetty. I'll post videos of that later... but for now... I need some help!

My Yak is 11' 8" long. It's a Cobra XL (Discontinued) similar to a Scrambler XT so I hear.

I need to get a hatch "cut" into the front unused area to throw fish into. Anyone ever done this before? And can you recommend any kits... or cheap do it yourself ideas?

Thanks!

Here is my Kayak on youtube. (pre modded)

Congrats on the new used yak, I would email or call Andy or one of the guys at OEX before anything dramatic is done so as not hurt the integrity of the yak, you are up there with VINNY, looks like you are in the fish...
I would like to give that a try someday...although the effort to the launch
looks to be abit trying...welcome to the addiction...

You can put that same triangle hatch in the front or the same round one you have in the middle.

They are not cheap,
I had that same exact kayak, lets just say, I eventually just gave it away.

Those straps are thigh straps

I would recommend putting as little money as possible into that kayak
maybe a couple of flush mounts, and that's it.
go out and fish it hard,
If you become a kayak fishing addict... you will want an upgrade pretty quick.

Have fun

Contact cobra kayaks, they will replace damaged things at little or no cost, they are in LA.
