The shop you bought it at should replace it, but Shimano definitely will. There's a big difference in how a break looks if it's been crushed in a car door or stepped on compared to a break like you have. They'll be able to tell.

Baja Fish Gear is a damn good shop but like everyone says, if they won't/can't help, hit up Shimano direct. If there anything like Seeker you'll have no problems. Sometimes, like in the case with the Seeker I had, the guy looked at the break and determined it to be a dry spot that happened during the manufacturing process. Handed me a new duplicate rod and this was after owning it for around four years.

I picked up a Phenix Recon blank from the Fred hall show and then accidently broke the tip two days later ... so heart broken ... and my fault of course.

plus shimano will ship it back to you probably at their cost too...i brought in 2 old corvalus at the beginning of this summer and a TLD 20/40 to get cleaned up and i picked up the TLD and they said they were just going to ship me 2 of the updated Corvalus models at no additional costs. 2 weeks later got 2 brand new reels in the mail for the 25 dollar cleaning fee. They do you good over there.

Well, I ended up just dropping the rod off at Shimano since I was near their office in Irvine today anyways. No problems at all. CS said it may have had gotten a nick in shipping or perhaps a flawed blank. Regardless they did an exchange with no issues. They couldn't replace it on hand, they said they have to ship it to me. CS Said it will be at my door in 2-3 days. So far, so good!
Thanks Guys! Dan |

Shinano USA in Irvine will take care of you. While you're there drop off your Shimano reels for service and be sure to pickup the 2012 master catalog. It's awesome having Shimano and Daiwa so accessible for us.
