I was out today too I felt like I was the only guy paddling. I made bait easily but they were huge macks dragged it around for a while for nothing. Went into the kelp and landed 4 nice calicos.

Quiet for me too. I got out late morning and came in around 4. Macs were around but seemed to be on the large side. Dragged 'em around for nothing. Found this guy on my squid jig that got caught in some kelp.

Smelt are not my favorite bait in LJ but they do get bit. They don't slow troll very well but the live a while on the hook. I do like them for halibut on the bottome and the first YT I ever caught off the yak ate a big jack smelt. Mike
