Camping and yaking

Carpinteria beach, if you want to camp right on the beach you need to reserve way ahead. However, there are a bunch of sites that are in the back rows and in the grass area you can probably still get.

Great fishing from the beach with usually mild surf. Hiking trail along the coast, visit the sea lion rookery on the south end of the campground. Perfect family place.

Carp is the best.... and the Island Brewery, is a short stroll away from the campground.

I too was going to suggest the eastern sierras. So many places to fish and camp up there. Also many other great coastal suggestions above.

I guess it really depends where you live and how far you want to drive. picacho is fun and is slated to be closed at the end of the month so may be a good time to go and enjoy the fishing and camping there. http://www.friends4picacho.org/

hey man, this place you suggested looks pretty cool... do you know if reservations are needed or just first-come-first-served? Do they get packed? I'm planning to be there by noon on Friday... any info on the fishing and or camping spots appreciated...

Where exactly is the best part of Picacho for yaking, fishing and camping?
Isn't there a CA and an AZ side?
