Use the fuse...If you do get a short you'll be sorry! Just make sure you check and maintain everything, like you should do anyway, especially electronics. No matter how unlikely you think a short is in your particular application, it's still possible and with no protection....you are risking burning a hole right thru your kayak....

i have that box already. the one thing i did not like about it was trying to connect your wires to it. you can easily strip the screws , which i did at least a couple times . that fuse holder is the bomb. i took matts advice and put back the one i got from pep boys and got the top of line one . it sucks doo doo . the top of it doesn't even stay closed . thats not gonna keep water out . my solder job and shrink tube job is ugly as sin , so i am not gonna take pictures .
