Welcome Todd. We got something in common, I also got tired of renting skiffs in the bay. Good luck out there.

Welcome to the madness!
Fish finder or bait tank? BOTH
Of course if your budget will allow........

If you have to pick one based on your budget I'd go with FF because you can fish plastics, irons, or frozen bait.
BUT..... you can also get a bait tube, they arent expensive at all and then you can have a place to keep your macs alive until you get the funds for a tank with pump.
See ya OTW,
Mike

Welcome to bwe. Get the bait tank first you can always follow someone else who has a fish finder. Wait for March on the fish finder as fred hall show is just around the corner lots of good deals to be had.

Thanks for the warm welcome and advice. I'm leaning towards the bait tank. I've been fishing the bays for a while, so I already have my favorite spots. I've always been good at targeting bass in the bays but would like to start going after halibut...and then maybe la jolla once I get used to the kayak.

Welcome. Ur gonna love this. Also, as far as info goes, ur in the right spot. These guys have helped me immensely! One of the first things I bought first is my PFD and my VHF radio. I guess because, even though I have not yet, I have LJ intentions. Safety first. But I got the FF next...Janine
