Mission Bay/OB 4/3

I headed out yesterday evening around 4 and fished between the channel and OB Pier. Caught 3 big macks, and 3 nice sized sandies (2-4lb). It was dark when I peddled in so, sorry for no pics. Was throwing 5" BH and gulp shrimp.

I've always wanted to try that area between the channel and OB Pier. Next time hit me up if you need a partner and I'll try to make it down. I'll bring my shrimp pump (lots of shrimp in Bonita Cove).

Yeah, I'll PM you for sure next time. I've caught a lot of big bass in those parts and I've never seen anyone fishing that zone. I brought some ghost shrimp but wasn't getting any hits. I'm curious how most people rig them. I had it on a Carolina rig and was surprised I wasn't getting any action on them.

How close to shore were you? Were you west of the end of the pier, or inside the pier toward the beach?

If you draw a straight line from the end of the break wall and line it up with the pier, that's typically where I drift. Its about 3/4 of the way down the pier. As you get closer to the pier you'll see the kelp and changing bottom on the fish finder around 25-30 ft
