This whole thing really rubs me the wrong way. They want nature but only part of it. Nature is great unless it smells bad and then the smell is only a problem is it effects the intitled rich. Is the cove protected or not? Fly breed in the bird crap, then smalll birds and other insects eat the flys. Its a valuable part of the cove environment. They comb the beaches in LJ with a tractor to remove the washed up kelp. Rotting kelp is a food sourse for brine flys and thier larvea. Shorebirds feast on these flys. Removing the kelp damages the environment for shore birds. Combing the beaches kills sand fleas, isopods, and beach hoppers that are another bird food sourse. Its against the law for you and I to take a shell, sandcrab, or clam off those beaches. Had to rant. Mike
