Mine is mounted just forward of the bait tank. The only issue with this spot is that at the end of the day when I stow everything in the forward hatch, I have to crawl over the mounting bracket. The transducer is gooped in the center of the hull. Wires come through the hull just forward of the mounting bracket.

Mine is the same. The mount is directly in behind the bait tank switch with the transducer gooped to the inside of the hull. Because the moniter is on a ram mount I just rotate it on the ball joint so it isnt in the way when I am reaching into the front hatch.

Malibu Transducer ready kayaks
If you are going to buy a new Malibu Kayak they now come with a transducer ready spot underneath the back of the kayak.
Here is the link for it: http://www.bigwatersedge.com/bwevb/s...ibu+transducer The only bad thing is that they do not fit the Lowerance HDS 5. For the mount I would recommend a ram mount so you do not have a mount stick up 8 inches off your kayak. |
