I used to make lead pyramids and bank sinkers in my basement during the early '80s when my favorite pastime was fishing for giant Catfish on the Potomac River...
Do remember to wear protective goggles, welding/heat-proof gloves, and a mask. However, unless you get the temperature up too high, all you need to do is to melt the lead down to when it can be poured and not boiling. The following is a good site of you need hardware for special types of jig heads. Have fun. http://do-itmolds.com/ P.S. I almost forgot, try to get a high grade of lead without any zinc content. Zinc makes it harder to work with. Depending on your source, you may need to filter the impurities. |
