Much more common than most people think. I bet you found them nearer to its belly. I usually cut out its gills and pull its belly out once I catch it. Stops the worms from migrating xfrom its stomach to the meat.

They probably did come from the stomach area. I didn't notice when I fileted and divided into meal for two portions. When I thawed a bag out a few night later is when I discovered them. That bag very well could have been the stomach area.
