It was freakin cold before dawn, 48 degrees. The wind had been blowing 10-15 kts out of the east all night long. Launching at first light, the wind had died to about 8 kts or so. Surf was 1-2 foot hightide sloppy 4 second crapola. Took my time and sprinted out dry. When it is cold that is very important . I just brought 2 sticks and some iron. Started off with a couple sandbass on the 7X glow. Saw birds out further early, but did not feel like charging out another 1/2 mile. When the wind is blowing offshore, it makes me uneasy. Later I could not resist a big bird pile, but before I got to them about 1000 cormorants busted up the birds and scattered it. Now birds were sitting all over the water and as I headed in. Looking back 100 yards behind the birds were going nuts. Kelvin slid in on the outside edge and I worked the inside. All I had were my yoyo sticks and heavy iron. Near me birds were diving everywhere, but only a boil here or there. I got bumped good on the retreive and threw it out again. Bumped hard, but did not stick. Then I just dropped it straight down and halfway to the bottom put it in gear 3 or 4 cranks and bendo. 15 pound YT onboard. Kelvin motored over and we were shouting back and forth and I dropped down, hit bottom and 10 cranks or so and bendo. Fish felt alot bigger than the first, but surprisingly only went 20 pounds. It was around 10:30 and I was running late, so left Kelvin to try and wack em. Thanks for the picture Kelvin and the wahoo . Hope I can return the favor next time. I really should take my 20 points and concentrate on work, but I will likely have to get back out there before the week is over. There really looked to be a good volume of fish in this school. The never ending yellowtail season
