Oriental is a term that I hope died out in the 60s.

Asian is the preferred moniker now.

I actually take offense to both those terms and prefer panda or slanted eyes.

What really grinds my gears

One more. Certain asian member of sewer team (not naming names) that come across as standoffish to new kayakers and don't respond to emails. Thanks for explaining human behavior to me Jorge and nice meeting you. 😳

It seems like some people took some things too literally. Even I could read the sarcasm. Let's get this thread back on the right track, it's about thing related to kayak fishing!

"Uneducated working class", I'm one of those. So you are looking down on me because I don't have a college education? I was put up a grade in school, tested at just below genius level on on standardized tests but was never interested in school. I was taught the value of hard work from my father, an "uneducated" Naval Officer. He impacted many lives. I witnessed this in person at the old Naval Firefighting School in Tierrasanta. I was only six at the time but I recognized the changes in the sailors from beginning to end. I'm always teaching people at work both professionally and personally.

There's a lot to be said for "Hard Knocks".

I'm also a "Mick, Frog, Haggis Eater Euro-melange"

I did not see any racial remarks from you in this thread so I don't know why you are trying to defend yourself? I am not talking down to you because you didn't say anything that was wrong. Also I am not the one that said, "uneducated working class."

Those words were not meant for YOU. They were directed toward those that made racial comments. You were not one of them ok?

Obviously there are many that are working class yet are educated. Those that say racial slurs are uneducated. Luckily you are not one of them.

This is random but my skin crawls and I get instant road rage every time that dumb Smell Good Plumber commercial comes on with the stupid voice guy who's voice squeals. I swore to never call them even if my house is flooding from broken pipes.

Gee, another typical day at BWE.

Oriental racist, hardy, what a misconception! The fact is that when I was in grade school, there was no such thing as Asia, or Asians; it was the Orient, and those native to the Orient were Orientals. The term simply denotes ones ancestral origin, or origin. But hey, what do I know.
