Do you guys find the front and rear ties to be necessary? With my Outback on the Golf I just tie it down side to side and have never seen any slippage front to back even hauling tuchas on the freeway.

Where there is a will, there is a way! Here's my PA12 using a Yakima Whispbar to Thule Slipstream setup. I want a truck too, but this works for now. I would have gone for the PA14, but IMO that's pushing it for my particular roof top setup.
As for bow/stern tie down straps, I use them for 2 reasons. For the weight and cost of a PA, any additional straps to help secure my investment is reassuring. This is especially true when traveling long distances to SD/Mammoth. Secondly, I feel an obligation to not endanger other motorists around me in case of an accident. The PA with forward momentum will certainly cause physical/bodily damage. ![]() ![]() |
