Here is a picture of the spear head/tip that was in the belly of this yt. It was very snug, i pulled on it and wasn't able to pull it out.. Exposed after fillleting the fish... I dont know anything about spear fishing, educate me, please.

Wow! Im amazed that yellow was able to survive that.....! Must not have hit any vital organs...good job on finally puttn it down for good though.

It looks like it good be an Alexander Slip tip. $140 or so for the tip and screw adaptor.

How it was attached to the shooting line usually a swivel, to spectra/or float line.

It could be a pole spear slip tip as well, as the flared lip is pretty large.

I will third the pole spear slip tip theory.

Looks like they did that loop to hold onto while they have the band draw back (so the tip doesn't constantly fall off), and to clip a floatline to. This way they can fight the fish once shot.

I would guess (based on the shabby state of the line) that this was mostly a homemade setup, and the floatline must have broken off during the fight. Leaving one unfortunate YT with a new belly piercing.
