I almost lost two hoop nets because of the kelp building up on my line during strong in and out going tide. I had a 4' gaff with me and still couldn't reach the one of the floats for about 15 minutes. When it finally got in reach it was a real bitch to pull and I spent another 15 mins pulling kelp off the line then the hoop and finally my yak.

I wondered where all the salad was coming from. Perfect conditions opening night and been a forest in my favorite spot ever since.

So the commericial boats are responsible for all the kelp in the bay?
