Just a little overkill just like the 12v for my '12 Outback for my elite-5x DSI. I have a HOBIE bait tank and as you know it has it's own 6v battery so no issues there.
After reading the owner's manual I don't plan on any problems with it. I have a couple solar generators (Sunpower solar panel & Goal Zero Yeti 150) and panel and plan on buying an extra 12v battery for multi-day trips where there is no external power available.
Just my .02
FFY.
you can always convert to the square hatch if you didn't know. get the outback!!!!

tamddo714---The hatch fits but the bucket does not without modification to the bucket itself.

I have a HDS 7, works fine all day on a standard 12v.
