Fun bike. I bought new a 1980 Yamaha XT 500 had it for 4 1/2 years and had a ton of fun with it. Lots of torque, pulled wheelies without having to try too hard. The guy I sold it to was a lot younger and a better dirt rider than me. He used to hold a wheelie for several blocks down the main drag in Poway. Change that muffler and put a Super Trap on it, sounds great and gives it more power. Certainly wish I still had it. Good luck with yours.

Anytime amigo. Jim is awesome. Not many people get to touch my KTM.
Congrats again on your new steed.
On my bike, rods will be 2-piece set-ups, and they'll live in a pipe tube, capped on both ends, stuffed with foam, and the reels will be taken off when in transport. I'll just strap it down on top of the luggage across the back.
I figure that the majority of what I'll be fishing for will be lake/stream trout, so no need for the heavy-duty arsenal.
There is however a reel monster of a collapsable rod (30#-60#) on Charkbait right now. Breaks down into 4 pieces. A real slick set-up.

Nice ride, Jim! Do it yourself! It'll be fun. Pretty basic bike at that. And when it is in 100 pieces in a box and you are over it give me a call and I'll take it off your hands.

Here is a sick kit for some inspiration - http://deuscustoms.com/bikes/deus-400-sr-kit-2/

Nice vintage ride! I still have my 1978 YZ400E sitting in the garage, what a blast it was. Needs some work, maybe someday...
