First YT of 2015

Scored this am in LJ. Launched at 615 to small waves but easy enough to put the drive in and peddle out. I made bait easy and educated someone about the reserve and location to start fishing (line the palm tree up with the flag pole). After that I headed out deep around 180-190ft with a flyline Mac. As soon as I got out there my reel goes off and the fight is on. I got him up and hit him with the kage. Done deal
Right after that a seal showed up, not today brother. I decided to call it a short day on my way in I dropped off my bait with a couple that was out fishing. I was loaded up and driving home at 945. Came in at 19.4lbs still haven't gone past the 20lb club but I'll take a 19.4lb any day.

On the flyline Skip both winter and spring, and jump right into summer !

Deep yoyo is fun, but lots of work. Time to break out the lighter irons

Way to go Nick. Fish killer! I would've put a 1# torpedo in its gut. No shame in my game. Jim

Nice catch especially on a short trip. I didn't have the same luck. I think I need to get some new sabiki's and especially some with smaller hooks. Kept getting hit by the macs but had a hard time hooking them because they were smaller them I usually get. paddled all around all the areas out to 200 feet and even tried trolling a Rapala and YO YO the iron but no Love. There's always next trip, soon.

Have you tried the Owner Hooks Sabiki Chum bucket? These work great for me

I think I have. It's just time to restock on new ones but also the different sizes. I used to use the smaller ones but was always getting bigger bait with the larger ones. Now I need to carry several sizes to match the bait. Too bad you couldn't make out today.

19.4 may not be over 20, BUT I'd take that every/any day of the week!
Helping educate someone about the reserve was probably part Karma. Well done Sir.
Congrats on your first of 2015.
