Garmin fishfinder draining battery

Ok so I put a new fishfinder on my kayak it's a echomaps 74sv garmin. I have a 12volt 8ah battery it only lasted like 45 minutes on and then the battery died .. what type of battery should I get to run this fishfinder on my kayak

Sounds to me like you got a bad battery or a bad charger.
That battery should run your finder just fine.

Running with the backlight on drains it faster. Run something else on that battery to make sure it is not bad

I have a Garmin 70dv and a 10ah battery and I'm getting over 8 hrs easily
