Thanks for all the info, fellas! I'm most likely leaving the yak at home and will try from shore. Swimbaits and luckycrafts will probably be my go to!

In Cambria at San Simeon pier u can rent a yak for $40 all day. Paddle out past kelp edge between the pier and point on the right side. Great fishing. Big ling cod, rock cod, reds, covina. 1 trip for me got me hooked on the whole new kayak obsession. Only wish I could catch fish here like I did there.
