Rod for a curado 300ej - Kayak Fishing Adventures on Big Water’s Edge

I'm looking for my most versatile and value minded rod choice as it is the first saltwater rod I'll be buying. I'm a guy that likes versatility and value. I want the least amount of gear that will do the most stuff for the least amount of money. I know the old adage "buy once, cry once" but I just don't have $100+ to throw at a rod. That's why I was looking at ugly stick.

Sure it isn't the nicest but if I dump it in the drink I'm not as sad as I would be if I lost a more expensive rod.

Thanks guys. I appreciate all the suggestions but I'm on the budwieser budget.
