I would not attempt more days than the days that I could I was the only one out there except for one boat I had a VFH radio for safety first time out made it out and in smooth second time out made it out but got slammed pretty good coming in got to high in the curl...steep beach had the fish been bitting good I'm sure it would have been packed with boats ect....

Over the years I've launched both kayaks and small skiffs at IB. Pick a flat day and its doable like most beaches. That said, learned to surf at IB and it can be a rough nasty place. Conditions can change rapidly. Paddle out thru mello waves and return to thru low tide out side sand bars breaks of crushing shore break. Fishing can be good there. That sandy areas off where the circular array used to be are some of the best hali areas in so cal. Mike
