It has been known to be a zoo out there.

Honestly don't even bother there has been too much pressure out there on the rock piles. I would recommend doing like the last guy did, blindly through iron.

I'm sure all these guys recommending LJ for your maiden run jumped in the deep end as well and didn't spend any time in the harbors before making the jump to a surf launch.

I don't see why people struggle to keep losing things on surf launches/return. Don't be stupid, secure all your gear! Even pros can flip once in awhile. Sooner or later it's going to happen. Tie your rods down, put all electrical in dry bags and in storage bins and expect the worse. Seems like the ones losing stuff are the cocky guys who think it will never happen to them

Leashes don't always hold, dude.

You could say the same thing about wearing seat belts. If they're not going to guarantee you surviving in a accident then why even use it?
I don't fully disagree however, having better odds in not losing gear to the deep blue is far better than having to buy everything I've lost. Unless you fish with walmart sold tackle (which I highly doubt) you better have deep pockets if you tend to go out with nothing tethered down.

aside for my game clip i dont use leash at all. PITA.... i however do put everything in the hull or strapped down prior to launch and land. Those horizontal rod holders on the PA is worth its weight in gold.

It would take a lot to break a nylon leash but I'm sure it can happen- like maybe less than 1% chance.
