Hooping Lights

Promar makes a great hooping light, I used them for a few years until I came across the Trident LED light. The Trident light is actually a dive light but it's worked great for hooping.

For some reason, the Promar lights turn off after a while, at least mine do. Do the Trident lights stay on?

I recall having a similar problem with the promar lights, I could be wrong but I believe it was corrosion inside the battery housing on the contacts that was the issue. I haven't had that issue with the Trident lights but much like all waterproof products you may still get corrosion within the housing. I believe this will be my 3rd or 4th season with the Trident lights and so far I'm pretty happy with them.

They are made of hard plastic material that almost looks like glass, I keep them in a tube that has a foam insert

Wait? Is that container for storage of the lights or do you use all 5 of them at a time for each hoopnet?

Yes, I'm asking a serious question. I usually use one led light stick and the case in the picture didn't look like it was waterproof. But it looks like it's your hoop light. I like the sponge idea too.

LOL well i was going to say myself, @ those rates, that's $25 - $30 in Light sticks there for one Buoy!
But you did state they have lasted several seasons so that pays in the long run over glow sticks depending on the illumination comparison

The trident lights stay lit. I hang one on my scuba tank for lobster dives around 100 foot deep and no leaks. Quick freshwater dunk with the rest of my gear after and never had corrosion. Batteries can be found in bulk for cheap on amazon. Replaced plastic hook with brass snaphook. Good light

How does the brightness compare to a good glow stick?

They work good. But just can't bring myself to pay $10 or more per light. My bicycle LED's in bottles work better & the battery last longer. Mine cost $2 per light.
