December Fishing in Japan

So I just found out I'm going to Japan next December. I'll be there for a couple of weeks just outside of Nagoya in Aichi. Visit with the in-laws then go hit the water. Previous trips to Japan... The wife told me they don't have Charter boats... But saw bunch while waiting for the ferry.

I'm looking to go fishing while I'm there. Two options...

1. Find a Kayak rental place and just catch fish in the local bay.

2. Hop on a Charter boat to find some bigger fish that want to play.

I'm looking for any suggestions. Plz first hand experience only. Or any good leads to look at.

Thank you in advance.

If worse comes to worst I'd pack a travel rod and fish the docks like you would over here. There are small rockfish, spanish mackerel, seabass, snapper, and more that lurk the harbor edges. Think small metal jigs and crappie jig type lures.

Ya... That's my plan for open days. I'm going to use my brother in-laws gear for the docks and surf. But going to jump on a boat to see what is out there to pull on.
