This. Is. Amazing.
I'm going to make the broad assumption that this will be a huge success and will become an annual thing. Today, I start preparing for October 2019. God Speed to everyone evolved. I'll be watching with great interest.... |

Oh man. A little too short notice to whip myself into that kind of shape and I have 7 days in baja right around this time. But this is something I would be willing to train for.
I've been looking for someone crazy enough to do the paddle to Catalina with me. However, I am probably in shape enough to do the trip there and back not the whole way around. I also need to upgrade my Revo to an outback for a trip like this, so I can pack gear and have more stability. 2019 if it happens again is my time to do it.

I'm with the others. This looks like fun but probably too close of a date for proper training.
I'm 100% in for 2019 though.

Mike,
This is very ambitious, but looks doable with the right planning and conditioning. To date, the most miles I've done in one day is 29 on the water! Here is that trip. It was pretty rough at the end with the wind and I didn't have a sail setup then, wish I did. Currently, I could probably do there and back without much additional training, but the additional days would be taxing. I really like your plan though and this could be a special trip, very rewarding. If I had a little more flex with work and kids I would be all over this. Maybe I can plan on 2019! Another thought would be to get some promotion or sponsorship on this event, maybe have the proceeds go to a local charity like HOW or something. PS If you do some training or wanna hit some offshore action this summer, I could be down. I've been out a couple times this summer. Only like 8 miles or so straight offshore, but nine mile bank could be a fun day! Cheers, Todd |

I did it with a buddy a couple years ago. I might be able to join. Will decide during September. One of the trip to remember for life.

future Non Profit/Sponsorship idea

That's a great idea, my plan was never to make any money on this, but rather just have the trip of a lifetime, but if we can serve a higher cause all the better. So what I hope to do on this trip is to work out all the safety and logistical snags we are likely to experience on our fist way around the Island. Also I hope to get a bunch of photos and footage to promote future trips. Mike |
