Sounds like a tough trip.

It was a pretty hilly weekend to be on the water - I'm sure that contributed to your queasiness. If I may offer one bit of advice for next time...Pre-rig your gear or at least tie your knots at eye level and not staring down into your lap....that's what usually will get ya.

Good luck and good job getting the lady out with you.

Can I ask what good motion sickness medications we can take?
We initially didn't prerig the gear as we were worried of losing gear through launching and landing. However this time around I handled both launch and landing perfectly (the only highlight of the trip

)

As for the approximate location of the Rod:

Using Google Earth this is the place I came up with:

32°51'39.08"N
117°16'2.58"W

I know its still a LONG shot...but if anyone happens to be diving the area already please keep an eye out for me.

Sorry to be a weenie, welcome to the board

. I think there would only be a few exceptions of people that have not donated a rod or something else expensive to La Jolla. Dan was right, pre-rig rods to avoid sea sickness. I also take a half dose of non drowsy dramamine the night before I go out. I find that if I take it the night before, it does not make me feel like a zombie as bad. Bonnie and the generic also works. I think it is all the same stuff- Meclizine HCL 25mg. Sometimes I will get some raw ginger and munch on it on the drive down to the shores, I know other guys like the candied ginger. Avoid greasy foods too. Last but not least, make or buy a rod leash and use it. Here is one

now i'm worried if my rod looks like that now

for sure, eating 2 Mcgriddles before the trip was NOT a good idea!

The area you circled is the deep part of the canyon... 72 fathoms is 430 feet deep.

Recreational divers aren't going to go beyond 130ft.

Sorry about your rod Jin.

My son lost his first saltwater rod/reel (seeker/Penn 975) in the
surf coming back from the kelp at LJS. It was a gift from his grandad
that passed away in '05.

He even had it leashed, but the darn leash snap broke.

The amazing thing is how fast the sand there buries stuff.
