I’ll do a 20 with you. From Carlsbad to La Jolla. I’m cruising about 14 minute miles for 2 hours. I think 3.5 is sustainable

Awesome. I'll get a couple 15 mile paddles under my belt, and then around April or May I'll be good for 20. Maybe we'll see a few fins at the surface by then.

Nice goals, Join me in Sept or November. I plan on leaving from Makoville and rowing to Isla de La Guardia doing a ciermnmavagation and rowing back to Makoville. Thats 200+miles with a crossing of about 15 miles from La Bay to the island. That can be a rough crossing for a yak. I will follow your progress. Any one interested in joining me me please contact me on Faceboob . my page is Mako-Ville. Thanks.

Guys will get to fish areas without tons of fiashing pressure. I would camp out on the beaches and Island. My row boat "Second Wind" will carry supplies, a water maker, camping gear and cook gear and act as a support boat. Yes radios for safety and a small outboard motor for emergencies. Still lots of plannibg to do.

RIP Bob! I never met you, but you sounded like an incredible person and were a friend to many on this board.
I'm reviving this thread because I'm eager to get back to long distance paddles once the stay-at-home orders are lifted. Back in March I did a 20 mile paddle (ok fine, it was 19.9 miles), so now I'm thinking about 25 miles. The earlier sunrise will help. Really all I have to do is fish less and paddle more. I don't see it being that bad. lowprofile, let's do a launch from Carlsbad or Oceanside once we're able to. Maybe those sharks will be around. Anyone else interested in this sort of thing? I'd also be down for a Baja trip in the fall with an overnight stay somewhere that can only be reached by water. |
